About Our Troop
Our Daisy Girl Scout Troop is located in a small community in West Central Illinois. We currently are a part of the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois, which used to be called the 'Two Rivers Council'. The restructuring is still underway but we are VERY grateful and fortunate to have a resource office located right here in our area.
We have 14 girls in our troop, ages 4 - 7. We re-formed the troop in early November after a slow start. Our adults and girls are enthusiastic, excited, and getting organized so we can make this a memorable year.
What is the cost?
There is a 10.00 registration fee that goes to the main office to register the girl in the Girl Scouts Organization. Beyond that, troops set their own costs.
Our parents decided that our troop would run like this;
- Our troop has a troop 'start-up fee' of $10.00. Of this, $6.50 of this goes purchases the petals for the girls.
- There are dues each meeting of $1.00
- The girls each will be allowed to have the full uniform; not required, but highly suggested. If someone needs assistance to purchase the uniform, there is some help available.
- The Daisy Activity Book is optional.
What Have We Given the Girls?
At our first meeting, the girls were given the supplies to make name badges (Download Trefoil Name Badge PDF). They were also given folders with basic information about Daisy Scouts in it, such as;
- what girls can expect to learn their first year in Daisy Scouts
- an 'about me' exercise (Download 'About Me' PDF)
- a guide for helping girls understand the Girl Scout Laws (Download 'Helping Girls Understand the GS Law' PDF)
At our second meeting, the girls who lost or didn't complete their name badges were given another one. We gave the girls a coloring page 'D is for Daisy'.

The girls did GREAT with this exercise; they had to trust their friends to treat their stuffed animal with 'kindness', to return it, and they got to reciprocate. They really deserve to be proud of themselves.
